front console seat

going to have seat in front of console redone. I am going to make the bottom seat bigger than it is now(wider) does anyone know what kind of panel is used for the bottom.mine looks like it black and has two 3/4 holes in it. it looks to be water or weather proof. don't know if its wood of some type,covered with black vinyl? any suggestions?

1/2-3/4" marine or at least exterior plywood sealed with at best epoxy or at least several coats of paint

talked with several shops. they use a plastic material. found some close by on fri. taking cushions to upholstery shop mon am.
