Gopro tips;

ALWAYS hold the camera to shoot video in "landscape" not "portrait"(this applies to cell phone video also!!!) Remember how its going to be watched- on a screen.

On a boat, you really have to TRY to pay attention to the horizon when framing a shot or moving the camera.

For underwater when you're moving, you really have to go elbow deep to get past the bubbles.
Every time you pull the camera out of the water, LICK the lens dry! Otherwise, you get blurr from water drops for the rest of the trip.

I find 1080 Superwide the best for on the boat.

Make a place up high to mount it. I put it in a rodholder on my hard top.
I have the remote to start & stop it.

I use iMovie to edit on my Mac instead of the GoPro software. On a PC I used to use Windows MovieMaker(free in Windows but you have to load it.)
Both have "canned" easy templates or you can get artistic...
WARNING: You might spend long nights learning to edit video, still photos, and add songs and time the transitions perfectly. And once you do, they'll update the software and you'll be lost again.

I found that the best still shots are taken from video using edit software. Don't waste time switching from video to photo & back.

good tips, thanks skunk. when i first got it, i'd just turn it on and let it run. ended up eatin a lot of battery, so we just keep it handy and shoot as needed. my son works at the local tv station, so he edits it on their software. my computers are too old or slow (like me).
