Chesapeake Stripers
Looking to fish stripers in 2015. Any help and advice would be appreciated. Interested in the Chesapeake Bay area, but not locked in. Would like to hear from those from other areas as well. Thanks in advance!!

mid-May into early June, I recommend Northern NJ from Manasquan Inlet to Raritan bay. EXCELLENT chance at 20-40 pound stripers on live bunker or trolled plugs & spoons within a mile of the beach. Short runs from ramp/inlet. Good weather also. Not the "Beach" season so motels/rentals are reasonable.
^btw, that's a pic of a late-May fish |
Sounds interesting, do you fish there often?

I dock my boat in Pt Pleasant from mid-May to Thanksgiving. 1 mile from Manasquan Inlet. For the last 10 years, the bass have shown reliably in the mid May time. Sometime they arrive early but they are always there mid May.
There is always a school, well, many square miles of bait. It is an awesome site sometimes. http://youtu.be/Vig7TjXH27E?list=PL4C0C25453B4507E9 Bass fishing usually slows down mid June but some can be picked all summer. They return in November. http://www.wellcraftv20.com/communit...&pictureid=973 http://www.wellcraftv20.com/communit...&pictureid=953 http://www.wellcraftv20.com/communit...&pictureid=977 |
If you're looking to fish the CBBT or any part of the bay in Virginia, our trophy season starts May 1 and the regular bay season is May 15 to June 16. You may need to get a temporary license, but I'm not sure, and you have to do a catch report. Here's the link for all the info: Va. Saltwater regs
