When I was looking at that type of hull, I preferred the looks of the WAHOO myself.

listen, if I had a choice i'd go for a whaler but the price on this one may make my decision easier. now I just need to get this dang check.

and this one's only an hour or so away from me.

a lot of that decision depends on the shape and year of the motor

charlie_the_tuna 10-04-2014 02:13 PM

true, but if I have to replace the power a couple years down the road, it'll be a sh!tload cheaper than going for a 150 or 175.

Charlie, I've had two McKee's, on a 14, one a 16. they are decent boats, but they aren't that great of a boat. My 16 is pretty rough riding, I haven't spent any time in a 17 so I can't say first hand. Persoanlly, I would never buy a boat that had bottom paint on it, odds are the engine wasn't flushed regularly and is probably corroded pretty bad. But price is relative and yes, you could repower that cheap. A good friend of mine just bought a 18.5 wahoo that was on a fresh water lake with a 135 mercury on it for $4500. He did have to drive to Chattanooga Tennessee to get it, but after seeing it personally, it was worth the drive to find one that clean

i had a wahoo just like that one, great riding bay boat, more like a bass boat. i did not like the seat all the way across with only a small drain hole to drain water to the stern. also, i believe that is the gas tank, i noticed they have a plastic one. they are a pia to change

not just the tank, hoses and fuel fills are a pita as well, last one I did, we cut the whole seat out to get to it

I think it's a boat for sale.

Nothing special about that one.
