What about a Yamaha 200f on a V20 Fisherman?
I have a friend looking to repower from a yammy 150 s stroker, to the new 200f, the lightest 4 stroke 200 made, they say.
Still 90 pounds more than my old merc, & enough to all but swamp my v20 cuddy! How different is flotation on the fisherman, it's an 80's model with the big floor tank. Anybody have this rig? |
Ive got the F150 on a bracket and it dropped my rear about an inch. I imagine that 200 would sag a bit more. But I bet it would scoot!!

I have the 20 Fisherman with a bracket and a 525 lb motor. It is stern heavy. You do what you can to mitigate the extra weight. Floatation bracket, shifting weight around, fuel tank forward, console forward, etc. If not, don't put the weight on the back, the boat is balanced better with a 400 lb class motor. I did all I could and it is still a bit heavy to stern. Probably never be a self bailing boat again because I will not give up the hp for a 4-stroke at this time. The 150 Merc is the lightest I think in the 150 hp class. I hear nothing but good about 200Yamaha 4-strokes. Let us know what goes on..

Thanks I'll pass along the info. He was well on his way to hanging it on there & I mentioned it could be an issue. I'm also looking to repower & hope to learn from this. I am learning that my old Black Max is a good fit.
