And now...

Some crackhead in Vegas stole my identity! Evidently I've spent several thousands of dollars on Victoria Secret underwear and Coach purses. At least the b*^*h could have sent me some photos so I can see what I bought. Sheesh, I didn't think this month could get any worse...

It was mostly new credit. They were able to access one active charge card for Macy's, I'm not sure how. I monitor my credit scores and get alerts when something changes. I started getting a bunch of credit inquires and found out they were for applications. I immediately put a security freeze on the three reporting agencies and started calling the companies that requested the credit reports to let them know it wasn't me. I also called my bank and existing credit card companies to let them know. They tried to open about 20 different accounts, but so far only managed to open a Victoria Secret card ($750) and get into my Macy's account ($1250).
The thing that scares me is that they have my name, address, phone number and social security number. I can't be sure this won't happen again. My wife and I had our personal checking account hit about 2 years ago for tens of thousands of dollars. Ultimately, we weren't responsible, but it took the better part of 8 months to clean up.

Just keep that freeze on your credit from now on...as long as its credit, its not as bad cause its just numbers on paper for you, when they get your debit card info or bank account info they get your cash...like you said, you get it back but it takes a while.

Thats why I pay all my bills and do all my shopping, pay for food and gas with a credit card.

Plus its rather convenient to have one payment a month and a nice list of everything I (and family) spent.

Has anybody checked Stinky Hooker's closet for new lingerie?
If he starts posting picks in his new fall lingerie lineup, I think we can solve this one.

Sorry for you Spoggy! My daughter told me yesterday that she had been charged with buying a bunch of stuff in New York. She's due any minute and definitely didn't go to New York. Hope it all works out OK for you. I guess I've been lucky. A friend of mine ate at Red Lobster and payed with his debit card, a few days later started getting calls about charges over the net. Found out the waitress copied his card number and was having a shopping spree with it. Seems theres always somebody looking for the easy way out!
