Destroyer, thanks for your reply. I snagged a picture from Blue Runner, he has a good one that shows the construction of the hatchway into the cuddy. This is the same as my boat. The aft cabin wall is 1/2" ply, and I don't see a way for a door to be constructed to fit.

Here's a shot from sloppyhooker's 1979. I can see definitely how this layout works. My boat doesn't look like this.

Barring any other input, I don't see that my 1977 came with an associated cuddy door, I just find that wierd. I hope there will be a few close ups from other members that own pre-77 boats.
