V21 Swim Platform

Anybody know if the swim platform on a V21 is thru-bolted or just screwed into the transom?

I would like to think that all swim platforms are through bolted, at least at the top of them.

Thru-bolted is the way to go. Not sure about a factory V-21 platform. The P.O. replace the one on my boat and thru-bolted with starboard backing plate and generous 5200 around the bolts.

Thru bolted.... Anything less would be uncivilized.

stock was just screwed in.....I had to have my brace replaced. I use mine a good bit and went with oversized squared aluminum. Screwed in makes about as much sense as those dinky drains at the back of the deck....or leftover flooring laminate like they used on the gunnels......

Thanks guys. Tried to remove the top screw today. Only moved slightly and hung up. I'd have to say thru-bolted.

My 95 v21 (not a v20) has a stock swim platform that is thru bolted.

The 21 I had was thru-bolted...if yours is not you should remove it and redo it properly...

Mine (96) was just screwed in from the factory. I drilled it through, used SS fender washers and 5/16 SS Carriage bolts. Coated the threads with Never-Seez and sealed the hole with 5200.
