Hmm ligh dont light

Today i checked my anchor light but it didnt work. The bulb is good but i have only 10 volts when i checkek the socket my front light works but not my anchor light it did work about a month ago

can u check voltage at the lamp base with the bulb in the socket
check voltage leaving the switch
check continuity from the switch to the fixture on each leg
i have found a 12 volt test light is better than a meter because it puts a load on the voltage
just guessing, but it sounds like a bad ground

Maybe a wire came loose at the back of the switch. There are quite a few wires that go to that switch.

i have to check it with a test light

I would have bet a dollar that incandescent bulb would light dimly at 10 volts:head:
I've seen corroded wire do crazy things though, you read voltage but it can't carry enough current to light a bulb

Thats where I would be moving the pos wire from the switch to a known hot terminal. then move the return to a known good neg terminal

wait a minute, this isn't one of those all-around lights on a post that plugs into a socket in the gunnel?
If it is, there is your problem! they are the red headed cousin to trailer lights:fight:

50% of the reason I paid $3k for a hard top was to have a place to mount a permanent hard wired anchor light...
