Where do run your water separator?
On my 22WA the PO put the fuel and water separator under the port bait well in the stern right next to the livewell/washdown pump. The pump was rotted and a wire broken off and the separator was dripping, not a good combo. On my Striper it was mounted in the splash well. I like the cleaner look of it not out in the open but I think it's better out in the open air. What do you guys think?

Out in the splash well. No gas in bilge when you mess with it.

Mine has the clear plastic bowl under the separator so you can see/drain any water that collects. It would be useless under the deck or gunnel where I couldn't see it, plus draining a water/gas mix into my bilge isn't really high up on my "to do" list. Like Skunkboat said, in the splashwell is the proper place. It's just safer all around.

Thanks guys.

Mines in the splashwell. Any mounted under deck or in an enclosed area can't have the plastic drain bowl, only metal.

Mine's in the port transom hatch and has the clear bowl. I change it every year. I've never seen a drop of water in it.
