Teak deck

Now I've really got cabin fever this winter.
I kicking around the idea of laying a teak deck on on my v. My deck core is rotten. So I have to do something with the deck soon anyway. And I have alot of teak that is killin me to look at everytime I work in the garage. I have a problem of creating projects in order to use material.
.....If I do it I plan on using 1/2" ply or divinicel for base. Then lay down 1/2" teak. The teak is about 2 lbs. a square ft., 76 square ft of deck surface, 152 pounds extra weight for the teak. I don't mind the maintinence and care, the feel is worth it to me.

Has anyone done it here?

That would look sweet. A few years ago someone posted a link to a company that basically makes synthetic teak decks for high end yachts. I like your idea better, using up something you have already and it would be a one off custom look.

I've been on alot of boats with synthetic teak pattern decks. It would be easy and cheaper than wood. But feel, smell and depth is not comparable. The synthetic material can get stained too. Mildew and oxydation cant be removed.

I agree, can't beat the real thing. Reminds me of vinyl siding.

Teak is beautiful on someone else's boat. I had a lot of teak on my charter boat, committed the ultimate sin and Painted it.

That sounds really cool! The extra weight might be a small problem, but I would love to see what the end product looked like. I really like the look of teak on these boats. Haven't seen anyone ever do a deck though.
