Got a lot done in 19 day's

Despite being down with divarticulates for 2 weeks and a bout with a nasty uper respitory infection, I made some real progress on the V .

1) bought a 10' x 20' tent from a neighbor who bought it new in MAY for her daughters graduuation, she paid $219 for it , I got it for $65

2) got the full camper top re-fitted and mounted with all new zippers and hardware

3) removed the old rusted and loose 1/4" bow eye, replaced it with a much larger 1/2" S.S. one . I had to epoxy the old holes and put 6 layers of glass and mat down first, then made a 1.5" thick V block and glassed that in. then a 3/8" aluminum backing plate . Then bolted it all in . ( real solid now )

4) removed & replaced the old gas tank sending unit, installed new wireing and drained the old gas from last fall. I figured the gas wasnt realy bad because I treated it good in DEC. so I used my 1200 GPH fuel pump and put it in my truck. ( waste not want not )

5) mounted my aux. motor mount to the transom , useing 1/4" aluminum diamond plate both sides (solid)

6) removed all the old decals and buffed out the boat and waxed her ( hardest job yet) She came out looking real shiney. ( new decals go on this weekend)

7) last I removed all the old caulk under the rub rail ( what a mess ) I was going to replace the rail , but not much time left OH and yea not enough $ either , will do that during the winter storage , Any way I must be watching to much TV , because insted of useing 5200 , I grabed a can of FLEX SEAL (handy man in a can) you all know this stuff pushed on late nite TV . Well to my surprice this $hit realy works well. and not as hard to clean up as 5200 , but it will sufice till I replace the rail

Grey, that's some nice work you're doing. I especially liked the care and thoughtfullness (is that a word?) that you used in changing out that bow eye. Nice job!!! And thanks for the boat porn... love it!!!

If using in choppy waters.....2'-3' waves etc I suggest trim tabs.

Makes a BIG difference - pounding vs not.

Nice rig, great work and good luck with it.

Yea I hear you , I asked the wife for some tabs for an early XMAS presant , I even got her some flowers and still NO TABS :head:

Greene's right about the trim tabs, but they'll come in time...enjoy til then!!

Yer REELY gonna enjoy that full enclosure when the thermometer starts droppin' this Fall...I call those SEASON EXTENDERS cuz that's what they do...amazing how well those tops hold heat from a small propane heater...Boat $$ well spent there!!...
