Suzuki Tilt and trim 2006 DF 140 Tilt up doesn't work. Both the switch on the binnacle and the cowling. Try to trim up from either gives nothing. Press down and trim motor runs. I have assumed that both switches haven't gone bad at the same time. It has a single combined up/down relay. Clicks when down is pressed. Nothing when up is pressed. Assumed that the problem was in the relay. New relay didn't solve problem. There is a switch that limits up travel but I have eliminated that as a cause. Any other Suzuki owner have the same problem? Any ideas? Thanks |

2 Attachment(s) are you sure there are not 2 relays? Looking at the manual it says an Up and a Down. Picture looks like 2 identical relays side by side. Do you have a Service manual? follow the cable from the tilt motor into the engine. Green wire goes to down and blue wire goes to up. Jumper 12V (the white wire has 12V) to the blue wire and motor should run. |

There was a change in design mid 2006 to a single relay. I'll try jumping + to blue wire. |

Note this is how this electrical portion works, same as OMC T&T Easy way to remember is Blue Wire =Sky =UP, Green Wire =Grass=Down Check the fluid etc, open the emergency release valve and lift the motor up and down if any stuck valves this can free it up. Swap the relays around, test for 12V..the motor may be shot... |

Update: Isolated the problem to the wiring. No power to the up side of the relay when either switch is used. Hot wired directly to the supply side of the relay and trim works both directions so, thankfully, the motor is good. Did a bunch of probing with a meter and couldn't find the fault. Too frustrating for me. I'll let the shop figure it out. |

Problem found. Broken wire buried in the harness. |

Good going!! Nice seeing you her again! You are ready to kill the bass now! Wish I had a boat, first time in 20 years not having one! |
