I got some new wheels!
So Last summer I picked up a 95 BMW 325i convertible for $1700 I spent close to $3000 dollars since then working on restoring it... New shocks, struts, brake rotors, ceramic pads, soft top, valve cover gasket, plugs, belts, idler pulleys, alternator, fan blade, tires, [clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, flywheel disc, pressure plate, pilot and t/o bearing], rear main seal, intake boot, badges, all exterior bulbs and most interior bulbs Alpine speakers throughout, and I'm sure other things I forgot.. I had LOTS of hours in it and was about to order new leather for the seats when a 19 yr old girl turned in front of me and smashed it up a week before my Mass trip. The day after I got back I ended up w the busted ribs and torn muscles and was finally up to dealing w her ins company last week... well as long as I don't figure much of anything for my labor I just broke even when they totaled it. I ended up getting a check for $5000 after the buyback on the car of $1200... I let dad have it for the $1200 (smokin deal btw) and he is gonna fix it up for his new toy as I am probably another month away from being able to do any real work and just needed to have a car back without an immediate project.
I spent a week scouring every bmw convertible on c/l or ebay within $500 miles and found one that was the right deal for me.. Two days dad and I ran down to Ft Campbell and I bought it from a Black-hawk helicopter pilot. It's a 2001 BMW 330ci convertible. It's black with a black and red leather interior and a black top. 110,000 miles. http://clarksville.craigslist.org/cto/3688495788.html http://images.craigslist.org/3Kb3Nc3...42593e18df.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/3Ga3Fa3...9b5dfd1bef.jpg http://images.craigslist.org/3If3M63...31efb61ab3.jpg |
Gorgeous, my Bro in Law ran one stock for a decade that he bought with 150,000 on it. His kids inherited it one at a time and sold it with over 250,000 on the odometer.

Nice car Smoke. Good find! Speaking of them, how are you doing in the ribs healing dept? |
Thanks guys... the 95(besides being badly neglected by previous owners) has been a truly great car..... I already miss it... If this one is anything like it I should get some good use out of it.

Well it was odd for me to drive slow but I did an experiment today and set the cruise on 55 mph.... If the on board computer is correct I got 36 mpg at that speed over a 10 mile trip. I was pretty surprised at that... dunno if I could actually drive 55 on a long trip to save $20 a day but it's pretty cool anyhow.
(it was spot on on my first tank at 28 mpg running 78 mph so it MIGHT be right here too) |
