Small stripers in the thames river
 

Just spoke with a friend in NORWICH CT . he's been catching nice stripers 18" t0 24" on bucktails in the THAMES around NORWICH harbor down to the old state hospital, Say's it's cold but active . I might grab my 14' alum. this weekend and have some early fun

Better check your regs first. I have no idea about CT but in NJ you cant fish for stripers in rivers and tributaries until March 1

You can fish them year round in CT. I haven't hit the Thames in quite a few years, but you can catch Stripers year round there. I remember a couple trips having to break the ice up at the boat ramp just to launch. Fish would be stacked like cord wood too, and not just schoolies.
Just be sure to get your license before going. They will bag you for a fresh water license.

Well it was fun but no luck , We saw a few being caught but it was real slow . Will try again next week

Just got a report from my buddy James in NEWLONDON he was out this aftrenoon about 4:30 PM casting GAG,S small eals (GREEN) and caught 4 nice stripers between 23" to 30" under the 95 bridge 1st. bridge structure. I wish I had time to go, but with this next snow storm is going to hit here SAT. I am stuck getting ready, if any of you folks have a chance friday is going to be great weather for some early fishing. good luck

Nothing like a little fishing in the snow. A few years back out at the Chesapeake Bridge Tunnel a snow storm moved in as we casted for stripers. hought it was fog at first then the snow came. It was pretty cool but it was not snowing too heavy so it was not that bad.
