Here's a picture of one my buildings I do work on for the city of va beach. The squirells are eating the tops of the aluminum gutters!!!! Lol! They have knawed the whole perimeter of the building!!! Insane.

They are actually trying to wear them down.
If they don't, the teeth will get too long and grow past each other making it impossible to eat.

they have chewed the neutral wire on my electrical feed to our house twice. its aluminum and they love it

I used to work for the power and light company around here. Squirrels are one of the biggest causes of power outages. They love to eat the insulation off wires. No one knows why for sure, but it's believed that the EMF radiation coming from the wire attracts them somehow.

A cable guy told me once the manufacturer uses peanut oil to lubricate the cable wires when they get put on a spool. Causes all sorts of problems with squirrels chewing on them.
