Too Much Water!!
Lake Hartwell is down 17' or so...my NJ buds are faced w/submerged cars, entire houses and lord knows what else post Sandy...but now Daydreamer has his own unique problem on his hands...
Here's John's dock http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90.../JohnDock1.jpg And here's John http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y90.../JohnDock2.jpg We've had some pretty substantial rain in the last week or so that brought Lake Wylie UP over his dock...keep them boots handy, Man!!...That's his very nice CC V20 behind him there...looks good and will GIT IT 'cross the water to!!..yeah we broke down, he twisted my arm and had to take a boat ride one day a while back...if I'm lucky I'll get to do it again!!... |
That is huge fluctuation, hard to figure out docking builds I would imagine.
|
Dang...I've never known Wylie to be that full.

High Rock Lake supposedly cannot flood, knock on wood. At least it hasn't since I built my dock there in or around 2002. I built the stationary part only about 1.5ft above full pond. I've heard Wylie and Lake Norman can have flooding problems. I guess High Rock is more like Hartwell in that the water goes WAY DOWN in the off season. But, rarely 17' tho! That's pretty serious drawdown. I feel for ya Daydreamer!
Here's a shot of my dock from a while back. As you can see the water is probably 3' or so below full pond in the pic: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0609081953.jpg |

Hey...Lake Hartwell is down about 17' now due to drought conditions and Army Corps of Engineers inability to properly manage...back in '08 it was down 23'!!...some SCARY sheeyat boatin' back then...but I'll tell ya, our NJ brothers has got some serious issues to deal with up there these days... Oh I meant to say...NICE DOCK!!... |
Your eyes are going bad Oz....I'm behind the camera! But, Sparky may very well be draining his weasel. I don't see a fishin pole and he does have that peculiar stance goin on! LOL BTW it could be a nice dock if I'd take better care of it but thanks anyway. I'm just glad it doesn't flood like Wylie. That would suck.

Someone needs a floating dock....
And tell your buddy to stop making the lake levels rise! |
well guys the water is slowly going down!!! it only comes up to the bottom of the floor joist, still needs to go down a little.the whole dock is covered in red sitl now!!!!!!will have to wash and clean when the weather warms up
9maybe this coming tue). after we bought this house we were told that the dock would flood at times. i thought about tearing it down and rebuilding, but the cost along with the dreageing i had done just did not make sence,as what is there in in good shape.the prior owner built it with a buddy of his!!!!! it was built two to three feet to low, but that is how the owner did things 1/2 ***!!!!but its ok for now.i have three big trees that if they go down they will take the dock out. so maybe one day i will rebuild as it should be!!!!:money: |
