cap fell in fuel tank

I was putting in startron in my fuel tank and you know that little white and aluminum seal in side the cap, it fell in my fuel tank, do you think it could cause problems, I have a 55 gallon tank under the deck

It might never cause a problem. Yet, it might get sucked to the fuel pickup tube and block fuel flow. Pull your sending unit and see if you can see it in the tank. Do this when the tank is almost empty. Also the baffles in the fuel tank may keep it forward and it might never reach the fuel pickup. If you pull the sender and see it, sharpen a piece of stiff wire and see if you can gig it.

I can see myself doing this!

do you think the gasoline will desolve it?

That should always float on the top, so if you never let your fuel level go too far down, it should never be a problem. It will not dissolve in your tank. At your convenience, or as a winter job, try to retrieve it from the tank through the area where the sending unit is.

It ain't a problem.
But it would drive me nuts!

did you add fuel after the cap fell? if not, might be able to disconnect fill tube at tank and pull a rag through to retrieve it.

I can just see explaining to the mechanic how a wire, a rag, 5 feet of rope, and other assorted items ended up in the gas tank.. lol

as stated above, no it won't dissolve. most likely it will never be an issue but if it ever is it could be at a really bad time.... at least you know that if your engine quits, you can likely get going by removing your fuel line and blowing through it.......

Honestly if it were me, I would cuss a lot, grumble a bit, cuss some more, and then start tearing into it till I found and removed the offending item.

I know it might never cause a problem but i know its in there, if it floats i should be good
