V21 owners with 200hp outboards - questions V21 owner questions Down the road, I may want to switch from my 150 to 200 hp outboard so appreciate feedback to these questions please: 1. Does the transom well fill with water - if so how high ? 2. Does water come up through the deck floor drains - how much ? 3. With 1-2 people standing in the back, does water come in ? 4. When you slow down to a stop, does water fill the transom well ? 5. With the 200hp, what's your approx top speed ? The 96' Evinrude 150 hp I have only weighs 375lbs - light, and no water issues. A 96' Evinrude 200 weighs approx. 475, and the early 2000's DFI's weigh 525lbs - thats a big difference. |

Not a 21' but I had a 225 Rude and now have a 200 Rude Ocean Pro. When at rest and two people fishing off the back about 4" of water stands in the splash well. The water gets to be just enough to wet the deck with two people fishing off the back. In short the boat handles it just fine. Top speed, well...lets just say I'm propped more for pulling rather than hauling arse. ETA: water does not come over the top of the transom when I come to a slow stop but will if I stop quickly. |

Just go ahead with the 200, if your serious then you will no matter what anybody says, the boat can handle it with ease and you'll be happy you did. BTW what questions did I not answer other than top speed and I thought I addresed that as well. |
