headed out for a three day
Leaving tomorrow with my wife for a short vacation in New Orleans, my sister is driving down from Raleigh to watch the girls so me and my wife can get away for the weekend. We usually try to get away some where around our anniversary, but we had to take this place when it was available. Any digestions on must see?

Enjoy your trip!!!
Bourbon St. is all I know to tell you...and you already knew that. |
I suggest a google maps search for museums.... I've heard that there are some really cool ones there.

If its like it was 2 years ago, avoid the west side of New Orleans. NOT a great neighborhood where even the cops didn't want to go.

check some of these out
http://www.foodnetwork.com/local/sea...2/10/?city=New Orleans , LA&show=Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives worked over there for about 4 months and loved the food. never had a bad meal anywhere. usually the worst the place looked, the better the chow. |
We were there last spring just for one night. It was recommended to go to:
Acme Oyster House 724 Iberville St New Orleans, LA 70130 The line was out the door and down the street so we opted for somewhere else. That was at prime lunch time. I would have liked to check that place out. It's just down the street from bourbon street. Have a great trip! rkc |
Rue Burbon during the day is tame enough. Go plop $100 down at Harrah's, you never know, you might hit it big and get a room comp. :sun: Keep the wife outta the antique shops... Lots of courtyard dining there, great food..

went there, did it, probably won't go back. could have done the same thing(but better) in Charleston without the smell, homeless guys every where, the shake down tap dancers, and yes, i got crappy food at a place called Franks. Seems like Nola has been taken over by transplant Long Islanders, at least every one I ran into sounded like they were from there. I got tired of being asked if I wanted to buy a ticket or tour package from the Jersey Shores parents(too much makeup and too many pall malls). I actually don't think I ran into or spoke to a straight, white(including cajun), native person from NO. Plenty of freaks to look at though, some of them didn't realize they were freaks. Oh well, lesson learned
PS, I did find oen thing i really liked... Abita Amber, no its not a stripper, its a beer! |
well I've taken the bypass around N.O. several times because I never had time to stop.... now I don't feel so bad... Sorry you didn't enjoy your trip tho.

Welcome Back Spare. Lesson learned on NO. I guess NO = NO :head:
