Gulches trip
Went to the Gulches in Laurens, S.C. yesterday, some friends of mine invited me to go along. Had a great day of wheeling. Makes me want to get back to work on my stuff. A few pics for ya'll to enjoy.

Looks like loads of fun!
One thing I noticed though...most of the guys dont have on the fancy 5 point seatbelts that are installed on every one of the rigs. Why would you build a full rollcage vehicle then not use the belts that will keep you inside the rollcage? Not finger pointing, just wondering? |
I asked the same question as well. I was in the back seat of one of the buggies, anytime we went up an obstacle, I had all my belts on,there were a couple of climbs that I should have opted out of, but I didn't realize how tough they were going to be until we were on them. To the driver, its a trade off of being able to see around the front end(leaning out to look) or being tied back in place by the 5 points, viability is a big issue when trying to keep yourself out of a trouble spot. The lap belts(3") do a good job(every one had their lap belts on), and the seats them selves hold you pretty well. All of theses climbs we went on were low speed, that doesn't exempt them from being low danger though. Personally, I'm trying to build my buggy where having the full belt set on doesn't change my perspective or ability to reach any of the controls. At the end of the day, the only roll over we in the whole group had was at low speed(less than 1 mph) and was in a washout, it went half way over and stooped.
