thanks |
I have a mercury 150hp o/b and I use the racor # 3227. I have the racor with the clear bowl that threads onto the filter so you can see and drain any water.

DItto. Works great.. but you should still change the filter element once a year.. |

This has always bugged me. Why do different outboards require different spin on filters? Its mounted in the boat and fuel flows thru it. Simple right? So why would a Mercury require a different filter?

What should the Micron number or flow rate be for my 135 evinrude? I have a sierra filter now also. What racor should should I use for this motor?

BTW, Racor filters were taken over by Parker a while back, so you're really getting a Parker FIlter with the Racor name. The original Racor company is out of business. This is not taking anything away from Parker, they make some of the finest quality filters in the industry. |
I always wondered what was different about a 3227 and the 3228UL.
They are both 10 micron and 60 gph with same threads. I know that the 3228UL comes in the kits with the METAL bowl. The metal bowl is UL listed and is required for mounting in a close engine compartment. The 3227 filter comes in the Kit with a clear plastic bowl. From what I can tell the replacement filters are interchangeable, assuming you are not putting the plastic bowl in an engine space. I have used both on my old Merc 150 and now on my Suzuki 140. Sometimes one is sold out or even cheaper than the other. |
