Re: MAN I LOVE THESE.......
Saw a 2000 Penn Yan 25.5 Intruder with hard top and I/O and thought that was one sweet boat.
Anyone ever ride or fish off one, always thought that would make a great boat for me. |
Re: MAN I LOVE THESE.......
never been on a penn yann. but they are known for thier 'handling'. or lack thier of. like i said, i never been on one. thats just what i have heard.

Re: MAN I LOVE THESE.......
Penn Yan Boats: Please think twice about what you need in a boat......A friend of mine had one with a 305 chevy inboard, tunnel drive etc. While it was finished out nice it was very ,very heavy ,slow and very hard to get in and out of the slip and would drift uncomfortably under bridges and in tight inlet channels due to the lack of prop control which was why they were never really popular in the big blue but would probably make an OK lake boat. In a lot of ways it reminded me of a jet drive as they wander a lot at low speed. The I/O version may be a different animal but the inboard left a lot to be desired and hard to drift off a shoal. Just my humble opinion.... Frank

Re: MAN I LOVE THESE.......
I agree with Frank 100% they are poor performing boats never heard anything good about them except that they make great fishing reefs.

Re: MAN I LOVE THESE.......
I liked the Penn because of teh hard top enclosure, and thought the tunnel drive was much better then I/O's.
Figured they were better then the Bayliner series that had the same hard top. Learn a new thing every day. ;D |
Re: MAN I LOVE THESE.......
The tunnel drive's were horrible! Very inefficient power on that hull design.
