Prospective V20 Buyer

Hello,

Been looking at V20s for awhile. Found one nearby, 1982 V20 Cuddy Cabin w/ a 1999 Evinrude Intruder 150hp. Comes with trailer and looks clean. Has electronics.

Only 1 captain's chair and No live well. Will work on getting pics up. Dealer has worked on boat for past 5-6 years says the owner has taken great care of it.

Unfortunately I won't get a chance to check out the boat for a while, but I wanted to know what y'all thought. The dealer has it on consignment for $5900. I have just recently started looking at these boats so I'm not sure what a fair price is and was hoping to get some input from the experts.

Thanks,
Evan

Welcome to the cult.... definitely need some pics to be sure but price sounds high based upon what alot of us paid for ours.....also depends on where you are though if you are in the midwest or west coast it may be more inline. If you are buying through a dealer you are probably paying at least a1000 more than buying from an owner

I personally think the price is too high. I think you can do better if you look around. Others will chime in here too.

Hi Evan Welcome to the site. :)

Price is a relative thing. I'm sure that others would disagree with me, but from where I'm sitting I think that $5900 is a bit on the high side. I tend to be a bit cheap, so maybe it's just me... but you're looking at a 30 year old boat and a 12 year old engine.. I've seen good V's for a lot less.

I am located on the gulf coast of alabama. Y'all are saying what I was thinking. Boat looks good but for $6000, it has to be perfect in a 30 year old boat. Back to searching!

Some folks around here might say that's a little "pricey":you:

Too much

I just paid $4000 for a 1990 V20 with a 1996 Johnson 175 and a 2004 dual axle trailer here in South Florida. I would definitely say that $5900 is too much!!

i paid 3800 for a 1990 v20 with a 92 johnson 175 on it. boat and motor were in average shape. nothing really wrong with it just needed a little tlc. i had to go to deleware to get it. here in ohio the price are looking at (5900) is about bottom dollar usually higher for anything decent

Don't settle for a boat that needs a lot of work - unless you want a project, and then priced accordingly.

If you really wanted that boat, and wanted to make an offer, it's more like " based on the amount of work I see the boat requiring, the most I'd offer is X pending sea trial or something like that. ( like 1/2 the asking price ) Then be prepared to be turned down and walk.

Really a lot of boats out there - got to pick through em' to find what you want.
I did a double, triple look at a few before deciding to keep looking until I found the right boat. Good luck, you'll find the right one.
