Old Pinstriping

Anyone have a good way to remove old pinstripping? Or should I ask, is there an easy way to remove pinstriping? Heat gun, blow dryer, chemicals to use???

thanks in advance

If you have a harbor freght near where you live they have a electric heated razor scraper for a few bucks.I bought and Imo it's worth every penny I spent on it

or a heat gun and scraper..even a hair dryer. The electric scraper sound cool though.

If you are talking about vinyl striping then the 3M magic eraser is the SHIZNIT YO!

It's a gum rubber wheel you chuck up in a drill... It rubs the stripe off without hurting the surface below.... It takes the glue off to. I have also used a heat gun but often they leave the glue residue behind which is not much easier to remove than the tape.

I tried all sorts of stuff but nothing compares to the 3M product above.

Thanks boys. So many choices. I will let you know how it goes.

By the way, does anyone know a where I might get the replacement pinstriping and V20 designation? Or am i stuck just re-doing the pinstriping with something off the shelf.

A decent sign shop can make you anything you want.

Thanks Kevin. I'm going to try that wheel. Never heard of it before, but went online and everyone raves about them.

Sort thru the Links section of this forum...for decals...and Smoke's right about some sign shops being able to replicate stripes, logos etc...

Some good suggestions here, heated razor and 3M unit sound interesting...careful w/the heat gun...WILL melt gel coat if allowed to get too hot...I'm facing the same situation w/my '84...stripes are off, but the adhesive is proving to be a REEL beeyatch!!...:cen:

I had one like that and I rubbed flour in the adhesive and used the wheel on it.... worked fairly well
