DIY Imatation Teak
this looks great!!! Watch the u tube video below
This deck material has a shiplap edge for ease of use and was designed with the Do-It-Yourselfer in mind. The shiplap edges allow each plank to fit securely next to its neighbor, without gaps. Each strip of PlasDECK E-522 is fit to the next to form the body of the deck. As the strips are pushed together the glue fills the small crevice between, making it a solid panel. Each piece is 6***8221; wide and 32***8217; long (16 square feet, 1.5 square meters). 22 lbs. $280.00 http://www.marineplasticfab.com/plasdeck.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBU6K...layer_embedded |
Gee I wonder why they didn't call it plas-teak...... would have been good for explosive sales! LOL

a lot of newer boats use this http://www.flexiteek.com/ you can have it made or any pattern, just pattern out the area. send it to them, they can customize the pattern for any sequence you want, then you just glue the whole thing down, turns out pretty good

this is the first time i have seen this kind of stuff, i thought it would be great on some of the old decks out there?
i might consider something like that myself some day, just need to get health back first or sell the boat |
Ok well I didn't click the link before...... I see they DID call it plas teak LOL
Anyhow, that stuff is WAY beyond what I'd pay but it IS really neat |
Interesting material... but honestly, listening to that girl discribe it, after the first 30 seconds I wanted to.... like... tell her to stfu...like right away...OMG, talk about a valley girl accent...totally.
But the stuff does look kinda good.. Not sure how well it will really hold up in the marine enviorment though. Sun and salt do in metal, wood, plastic, fiberglass and kevlar.. UV rays will destroy pretty much any surface after a while. Still, it's interesting and pretty. Wonder how much it would be to do a V's deck? :head: |
the flexi holds up pretty good, Sea Ray and Cruisers Inc are both using it, if you scuff it bad, you hit it with a sanding sponge, it will stain with some chemicals but otehr wise cleans up pretty good, I thought about doing the sole in my v with it, but its $$$
