Saltwater Registry in New Jersey

As an FYI to all NJ members here, and anyone who may be thinking of fishing in NJ saltwater, please remember that you MUST have a valid registry with you while you fish. New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife (http://www.nj.gov/dep/saltwaterregistry/index.html) is now reminding all saltwater anglers that they must register with the New Jersey Saltwater Recreational Registry Program (NJSRRP) prior to fishing in 2012. Registration is still free. Individual anglers and for-hire owner/operators can now register for the 2012 Saltwater Recreational Registry Program. Anglers who registered in 2011 are reminded that registrations expire at the end of each calendar year and must be renewed annually. To renew a 2011 registration select "RENEW ANY REGISTRATION". Anglers or for-hire vessel owners/operators who have not registered with the NJSRRP previously should select "NEW INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION" or "NEW FOR-HIRE REGISTRATION" respectively.

The registration is for anyone that wants to fish in Federal waters off NJ. It does cover inland waters too, but not sure of all the particulars. Living in Staten Island and fishing in the Raritan Bay or off Sandy Hook, the registration is required by me in NJ and NY. Both are free.

What if you don't consent to being registered?

What if it's against your religion?
