Allowing the government to seize and detain an American Citizen without appearing before a judge and charged with a crime and to place that individual in Cuba indefinitely on the say so of the military or our government is the start of the slippery slope our Founders warned us about.
God Bless Senator Paul for fighting this, and all should remember this in Nov 2012.

Glad to see common ground w/the liberal who posted this on my FB...he is as disgusted by this as you are...this a good example of why we need to put aside partisan bickering and get together against the real common threat to our liberties which has become the very lawmakers we elect, only to find them working hard AGAINST US. Lindsey Graham is on the Senate Armed Services Committee...which is the same as on the take from military supplies manufacturers...he and I are from SC, but could NOT be further apart in what we believe to be patriotism and the good of this country...and as you say, Willy, the good of our children.

There's nothing wrong w/our government..except the people who operate it..and WITHIN it. Please put aside your partisan beliefs and vote against every incumbent career politician you can on every level of government...we need to send the message to our lawmakers we are tired of them being lead around by their wallets and will no longer tolerate it. I know the difficulty in what I'm suggesting...a liberal dem voting for a rep??...perish the thought...or a staunch rep pulling the ticket for a liberal dem??...I'll DIE first...but the threat to the American way of life is greater from within than the issues that divide the parties...the arrogance of power that pervades the Congress today has to be dealt with. Vote 'em OUT. NOW.

If there is a sitting politician who is against the status-quo political payola, he/she needs to stand up and denounce corporate ownership of Congress...there's no gray area here...we control our inherited liberties as Americans, or we leave it up to corporate politics...it's really in our hands.

Keep in mind that good old senator Mccain was one of the key figures behind this bill to begin with. So this isn't a republican or democrat, or whatever thing, this is the people VS the elitists in charge kind of thing.

Isn't McCain on Senate Armed Services Committee as well as Graham..they want to prolong the war cuz it's filling their pockets...having the legal ability to detain Americans would help THEM do just that...yer RIGHT Ferm...party doesn't matter here...it's them against us..and I ain't just imagining this sh!t...

wasn't there a document somewhere that was drafted after a war long ago that had some language in there prohibiting the governing nation's army from doing this to their own people. My history is a little rusty. :head:

it is called the Posse Comitatus Act - it stated bluntly that the federal government can not use federal troops on U.S soil against its citizens.
It also required the federal government to use local law enforcement to enforce arrests and seizures, to notify them ahead of time and have them present.
Only one state has forced the feds to abide by that law ans that is Michigan.
The other states have let that slip by and not argued the point. That is because they are run by a bunch of Statist"s too.
I am not sure if Michigan is still enforcing it. It use to be that in order for the feds to come knocking they had to produce the Warrant to the County Sheriff and he decided whether to be present or not.
We as Citizens are being DOWN GRADED to bystander status by this federal government.
They tell us, and the states, what we will eat, what medicines we are allowed to take, soon, what insurance we will have to buy, what fish we can catch, where we can drive, what kind of vehicle we can have, how much of their money we will be allowed to keep out of our paychecks, who will be the winners and losers in our economy, what are banks will do, who they must lend to, how much salt is allowed in our food, what type of firearms you can purchase, how many, they have colluded with the universities to inflate the costs of our educations for our kids and they have given power to unions that represent approx 7% of our population.
They enforce only those federal laws which they deem worthy and ignore others, such as immigration and defense of marriage.
They were bad under Bush and Clinton, but under this Low Life and Chief Socialist all these things and hundreds more have been taken to an all time Orwellian high.
He must be thrown out Nov 2012 or once he becomes an second (and last) term POTUS he will have no reason to even mildly disguise his true intentions.
And while your at it throw out anyone who has not got
"Tea Party Endorsed" by their names as they are the only ones standing up to this onslaught and demanded fiscal and constitutional accountability in our government.
I don't care if he or she is not a fancy speaker or has funny hair or talks like they come from the streets, has no kids or fifteen kids, been married forty times or has not attended church in forty years or fly's to the Vatican once a week to kiss the Pope's big toe.
Elect a Constitutional Defender, a Fiscal Conservative, and Citizen respected by the Tea Party.
