Another wife

Not "new wife", "next wife" but another wife. Damn, I almost feel Mormon.
Well, our neighbor had yet another deviation in her life a few weeks ago.
Last year, her husband died expectantly after 30 plus years. Just a few weeks ago the 175 year old Oak tree (measured 6' across) about 10 foot from the house decided to kamikaze two fold into the house.
The first limb brought her and her son out to the front yard and me (in my underdrawers) and my wife to see what the rumble was. Us standing there muttering "oh ****" the son decides to go inside to retrieve a phone or something. I caution him to wait and see what the rest of the tree is going to do. He stops just short of the door and comes back when the second limb cripples the house.
Basically the front and rear concrete block walls pushed out and the left side broke loose and raised the wall about 4". All the weight of the limbs pressed in the center of the house and wreaked havoc on the strong points.
This WAS a concrete block house with brick fascia.

At least for a few months I've got "another wife". We felt the need to extend any help we could give being neighbors. It's a rare combination actually liking your neighbors.
Up side is at least I'm being fed good and the clothes are being washed frequently.
Wife and another wife.

We'll see how this progresses. Don't anticipate any problems being we've always been open to each other and helped as needed.

it s better to be in a position to give help than to need it. good luck with your blended family.
side note: i just had to have 6 oak trees removed from my yard or homeowners was goin to cancel. 4 were within 2 ft of my house with 36" diameters. the others were on the way out.

What part of Savannah are you in? I don't see too many block homes in the area.

Great to hear you could do something for your neighbor when they need it.

Lucky part is that the tree didn't take out your house also, Then both familys would be looking for a place to stay.

Great job doing what this country is suppose to be about and that is helping your neighbor when times require it instead of turning your head and saying that doesn't affect me so why should I.

Hopefull the rest of the neighborhood will see your example and help out also.

Thanks guys!
When the subdivision was developed 7 out of 9 of the still existing houses on our street belonged to our family. We are now down to 3.
It's always been expected and appreciated to help each other.
For some reason, the majority of people have always shied away from "our end of the street", can't imagine why.
