Question...

Anyone have a general idea of how much a 95' Yamaha 150 Ocean Runner long shaft is worth? Good running condition, good shape. I've been offered one for $2500, but I have no idea if that's a good or bad figure. :head:

I thought that only Johnson and Evinrude offered the Oceanrunner models.

condition is everything, but that seems kinda pricey to me. we are talking about a 16 year old motor that has been ran in salt water. i know yamaha's hold their value a little more, but a comp merc/omc can be had for $1200/$1500. if it is low hours and cherry, it might be the deal.

If it is a Johnson and I dont sell mine, I got one for you for $500.....I'll let you know.....it has low hours(600) and is a 25"

A nice 150hp 20" longshaft motors by Yamaha should be worth $2500 IMO especially if it is a 1995, probably originally came on a bass boat or fish and ski. Most Yamha 150's were 25" as the 2.6 liter is a heavy beast when compared to a Mercury 2.0 or 2.5 liter and the Eagle series v-6 OMC's. Most boats under 19' have a hard time carrying that weight. Like someone else said condition is everything. Yamaha V-6 XL or 25"motors typically sell for less as they are much more common.

Do ya see any crust around the motor and bracket?...checked the compression?...the shift shaft corroded?...foot oil clean?...clear w/no metal shavings...do controls come w/it?...SS prop?...if all the above checks out, I'd offer him 1800 for it and settle on 2250...

I am with reelapeelin $2000 would be a fair price if it meets the conditions he said. Ocean Runners are Johnsons, I personally would rather have a Yamaha (not meant to offend anyone).

Yes, it's a Johnson, in pretty nice condition. Compression is even and at 80psig +/- across all cylinders. But it's an opti and I've heard nothing but bad about them, so I passed. Since I bought the boat he offered it to me at $2000. I'm going to convert my 91' Merc 200 to a 25" shaft and hang that on the end. :head:

A Johnson opti ...no such animal opti would be a mercury. Guess it was a FICHT and if she is still running it would have had all the updates. The eagle series OMC ocean runners are great motors, ficht series have a lot of controversy.

I called it an Opti, not the dealer. He just told me it was an optical system, so I shortened it to opti. Didn't mean to imply that it was a Merc Opti. My mistake. In all cases it's a 150 and I want as 200 on the boat, so it's kind academic. It was a temptation since the boat is already all set up for it. Hopefully I don't wind up regretting my decision. :head: He did say it was not a FICHT, and it's not a looper.
