Lookin for more help w stripers

OK, so I may have a window to take the boat out Saturday. High tide is around 1pm. I understand stripers like outgoing tides, yet early morning or evening is also when they bite.

Not sure if I should try the early morning route (might be a tad chilly at 40 degress, but that's OK) just as the tide is coming in, or do an afternoon or early evening?

Also not sure if I should hang around the canal entrance or rivers, or go out near quicks hole\between the islands for deep water.

Beers for all good advice!!!!

THANKS!

I would vote for morning and afternoon both if you have the whole day, then you can explore all areas.

If it were me, I would grab a bucket of live eels and head over to Quick's Hole and fish around dusk. If the current starts getting a little fast, tie on a three way swivel above your 3' leader to clip on some weight.

I'll take a Shipyard Pumpkin Ale please.

OK,

One of those yuppie beers for CB, I expect you want the sugar on the rim too?

Thanks, maybe I will give that a try. Now, I was told that I should be between the islands, not exactly out the other side in quicks hole itself?

Going late afternoon would give me more time to get the boat ready. Its been buttoned up pretty good since the storm. I don't have to get up real early next morning as its a late game on sunday.

What we normally do is find a group of boats with rods bent and fish coming over the rail. Just motor over and join in.

I'll take a cold Busch Lite, in the can is fine.

Seriously tho, not familiar with that area up there but if you aren't marking bait schools or fish on the FF then there isn't much use in fishing that spot. I say that but the biggest striper ever caught on my boat the FF looked like a freakin desert.

Best bet - cover a lot of ground. If something isn't working, try something else.

None of those for me, strictly a Miller Lite guy

Blue_Runner 09-15-2011 01:47 PM

Miller Lite is my backup....bars don't sell Busch Lite. :head:

You obviously haven't tried Shipyard Pumpkin Ale. If you had, you'd be agreeing with me and frothing at the mouth. Nothing fruity or yuppie about it. Stuff kicks azz.
