The last half of that vid where they are showing the gunboat burying her snout in the waves... been there, done that... on a 410 foot Destroyer that gave me my name in the middle of an Atlantic hurricane... 40*, 6 second snap rolls.. Ripped our starboard anchor loose from it's chock, tore our motor whaleboat off it's davits and into the sea.. Something I never want to go through again... but when you're 18 and immortal it was kind of fun.. cause you don't know the danger you're really in. That particular storm damaged 3 of Desron 12's Destroyers so much that they had to put into port for emergency repairs... all 7 of us sustained damage of some kind or another.. You gain a healthy respect for the power of the ocean when you see a 2" thick steel anchor chock ripped from the deck.
Great vid... thanks for sharing :clap::clap::clap: |
Yeah, and here we were pissing in our pants a few years ago in 8-12'ers about 30 foot apart for two hours trying to get back to Lockwoods Folly from 18 Mile Rock.
da hell with dat |
Awesome find Bradford. :clap::clap::clap:
The view from above on the destroyer was incredible. That was cool. Wouldn't a small boat just go over the waves instead of plowing into them? Except for the waves at the end, most of them had large wavelengths. |
Pretty cool !!!!!!!!! Thanks for posting
