are you still running thru the hub exhaust? I know it can get loud, but I'd recommend going thru the transom, it will wake that motor up

We have been discussing that actually. I am sure its going to be done at some point, but I am not sure when that is going to happen, or even how to begin that. Can I just hang some headers and shoot them out the back with flippers?...LOL

you can probably start off with just installing thru hull exhaust tips http://www.rexmar.com/page230.html and connecting them to the existing risers with 4" exhaust hose. You will need to block of the stock exhaust Y pipe. To do it right, you need to pull the engine, remove the Y-pipe and install a Mercruiser block off plate

If you haven't already found them, look at Eddie Marine http://www.eddiemarine.com/ and Rex Marine http://www.rexmar.com/productindex.htm

Heres a few pieces I found on Ebay you could use for adding in through hull exhaust without pulling the engine.

Heres a used set of CORSA electric diverters so you can select between the regular I/O exhaust or uncorking it when you want to.

A set of 4" through hull tips.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/4-STA...ssoriesQ5fGear
A set of basic diverters that lets you use both.

And a diverter and through hull set with mufflers and flaps.

Pulling the engine in and out is pretty simple, only takes about 45 minutes to pop it out, so no biggie there. I will post pics of my final setup for pulling it up quickly...hehe. I blew a hole in a piston, and had to fix it, so took a few pics the engine while I had it out again. I will get a few more pics up tonight of pulling it, piston replaced, converting to fuel injection.

Thank you guys for muffler ideas...LOLOL Hm, I do need to do something I think.

the stock Y pipe set-up is a real limiter and it will kILL an ALPHA outdrive running all that heat through it. Running the exhaust through the transom will help the outdrive live MUCH better as well as freeing up some HP. The Y pipe is only rated to about 300-325HP for a small block, and many people report picking up quite a bit of top end by just installing the diverter set-up.
