Verification of existence.

So, my wife gets a call from her mother today regarding Social Security's need to verify the existence of her 103 year mother (wife's grandmother).
They want to interview the 103 year old to see if she is in fact alive.
My mother in law asked my wife what she thought they should do being they are 35 miles from the nearest Social Security office. Not wanting to drive for 45 minutes, then sitting in an office for 4-5 hours and then driving back another 45 minutes.
Wife's answer was real simple. "Tell them to go up there to your house and see her in her own house, they have the address, they don't like it, tell them to kiss your ***"!

We'll see how this plays out:

Hope Nanny don't have her pistol too close.

Send them a letter telling them that she does not travel well at her age but would be happy to speak to their representative at her home. Or by telephone if they wish.

Although its great that:

1) She is still alive and kicking.
2) Soc Sec is trying to cit down on fraud.

they need to find a better way to do it.

Take a picture of her holding up today's newspaper showing the date and email it to them...they can also verify the date the pic was taken clickin' on "Properties"

And tell her congratulations on her longevity from the V20 crowd and what's her secret?...

I suggested the newspaper thing to my wife. She said she can easily photoshop it and figured they would say the same.
Till she was 99, she was in the garden with her hoe tending it.
That hoe has killed a many snakes.
Sadly the last year and a half her hearing and sight has gotten pretty bad.
She had lasik eye surgery at 98, said she wasn't gonna do it again and she refuses to use hearing aids.
At the last doctors checkup my mother in law asked what he thought her diet should be. His response was "at her age, I wouldn't change a thing, I should be so lucky to live that long eating anything I want" and she does. Deer meat, fish, etc. And she does let me know when they are running low too!.

Maybe they can call the doctors office...
