Very Impotent Stuff
I made this a separate thread for so it does not get lost in the confusion.
If you fellows from out of state are coming to the Rendezvous in Barnegat you have to have a free NJ salt water License. Go onto google, bring up NJ Fish and Game, go into Salt water license and fill in the few questions and print out your license. Bring it with you they are checking. |
here is NJ:
http://www.nj.gov/dep/saltwaterregistry/ and NY: https://nyfgisales.appsolgrp.com/fgnyia/html/index.jsp BOTH are free, and the NJ one can be printed right out on your PC. The new york one has to be mailed to you, but you can print and use the confirmation page as a temporary 14 day license. |
Thanks for the heads up, Guys!!...Will DO!!...:sand:
|
Free fishing license? That's awesome... kudos to NJ. Just curious, though... why require a license if it's free? Maybe it helps determine how many are fishing?
|
To comply with the federal regulations for info etc.
It IS NJ so I fully expect it to not be free very soon |
Do we need the New York license? I can't get the New York one to work, it wants me to pay.
|
You only need the NY one if you're gonna be fishing in NY waters... So the quick, short answer is no, you don't need it. Barnagat Bay waters are in the middle of NJ. (Although there are so many NY'ers here during the summer that you might think it's part of NYC)
And the reason you need the license is because NOAA decided that they had the power to create a National Salt Water Fishing Registry in order to more accurately measure fish stocks... (cough-bull****-cough) and the price for the mandatory registration is $25 each per year. (talk about a money grab).. However, if your state already has a salt water fishing license then you're exempt from the Federal one... So NJ created the Free NJ State registration as a way of sparing the people of NJ and our visitors from paying for the Federal one. (Way to go Gov. Christie ) |

Just an FYI.......If you plan to fish in the Raritan Bay waters (or any other body of water that is bordered by NY and NJ) YOU NEED BOTH LICENSES. And YES, they more than likely will be charging for these in the future. |
