1975 Wellcraft CC Inboard Question
 

I have a 1975 wellcraft inboard cc that was my grandfathers. I cant find any info on this kind of boat i would love to fix it up because it was my grandads but im not going to put 10k into a 5k boat i would love some info on this. I know the hull is in good shape and i would pull the motor and rebuild it and the out drive plus the gas tank and all controls i would love any input thanks. IF not could any one point me in the right direction?

Welcome to the site....you have any pictures of the boat in question? All the inspiration you may need to get the boat running you will find right here....use the search feature for any particular question you might have and you'll find it talked about to great length....if you have any specific questions throw them up here.

Go to the Gallery on this site...lots of inspiration there!!...the Center Console I/O was a rare configuration and you might not see another one in the Gallery, but there's plenty of V20 ideas..if YOU are gonna do all the work yourself, you should be able to keep costs in line...Post some pics when you can...

OK thank you i will i knew I had something that was either very rare or I was way off on the year, I even thought about trying to put an outbord on it but i figured it wouldnt work. I cant find anything on an 1975 cc I/O fully restored do you have any idea what it may be worth? Thanks

Actually, you will find a ton of pictures and discussions in the gallery and in the forums on doing exactly that... (putting an outboard on an I/O) Many people here have done it. Basically you seal up your transom, install a bracket on it, then hang the engine off the bracket... it's a huge advantage over an I/O in a lot of peoples minds.
As to the worth of the boat... the simple answer is that it's worth what someone is willing to pay, just like anything else for sale. The better the product, the more the cost. In the last year I've seen V20's going for $14,000 down to $100. The difference is the condition of the boat.
And remember, when you sell a boat, the engine and the trailer help determine to a large part the money you can get for the boat. So if you're fixing up the boat just to sell it, don't skimp on the other parts.

Thanks I would love to put an outboard on it and do away with the inboard motor cover so i could have more fishing room. How big of an undertaking is it to convert a boat like that? Also does it take water the the same way? Also were do you guys buy all of your boat parts at for the cheapest price?

LOL Patience grasshopper... all things will become clear in time.

You'll need to speak to someone that's done the job to find out how long it took them. Remember that not all people work at the same speed.
As to parts, well, the gauntlet runs from eBay to OEM.. depending on price, availability, etc. Just do a search n the internet for what you need.. just as you found us.

Destroyer's got some great suggestions...get familiar w/the search function of this forum and look for I/O to OB w/bracket conversions....a couple of observations...think LIGHTWEIGHT on bracket and motor as the CC tends to squat w/this conversion....doesn't have the weight of the cuddy up front...so forget about a 4 stroke as they are heavy motors...several great 2 strokes are Merc EFIs and Optimax, Yamaha 2 strokers and of course Etecs...the motor should be a 25" shaft as a 20"er will have a tendancy to bury the motor when coming off plane

This conversion is unquestionably gonna be more expensive to do than keeping and upgrading the I/O, so think, research and consider after it's all done...are you doing this to sell or use?...and once again-are you gonna do the work or hire it done...BIG difference in what you'll have in it right there...
