what prop fits
 

hi is there any outboard prop that will fit my mercruiser leg . looking at buying another prop and there is a few on ebay it says they all the same ??????
i have a 14.5 x 17

The ALPHA outdrive will use any 4.5" hub MERCURY propeller, or you can use an exchangeable hub prop with the correct adapter.

so merc outboard props are the same ????

That's the style hub kit I was refferring to(the one in the ad is for a YAMAHA though). Many props made now are universal and you just buy the correct hub kit to fit your engine.

No, that's for a Yamaha props. The way it locks onto the shaft is different. For a Mercury you need a Mercury prop hub kit, like this one:

Your outdrive and bigger sized Merc outboards both use the same prop. I *think* that any Merc outboard 125hp and over are the same as your ourdrive... meaning that the shaft size is the same and the number of splines are the same. I might be wrong on the horsepower size of the outboard, but I know that they use the same prop The adapter/hub kit that Ferm is talking about looks the same as the one in your link to eBay, but the splines may be different on a Yamaha, and the way that it locks the prop to the shaft are different. Stick to Mercury hubs...you'll be ahead of the game in the long run. Cheers mate :beer:

this is a little confusing so can u remove the bush in the stock prop and add this kit is this so u can use any prop with the kit

No, you cannot remove the bushing in the stock prop and use a flo-torq type hub unless the stock prop has a flo-torq hub in the first place.
Any prop that has a flo-torq type hub can be used on any make engine with the proper adapter. Looking at my first post, (the one with the link in it to the Mercury hub) The bottom left piece is the rear thrust washer.. if goes on the propshaft first. Next that black plastic on the top left fits into the inside of the prop from the rear. Then, from the other end of the prop (the side that is furthest away from the outdrive), that brass piece on the top right with the splines on the inside fits into the middle of the prop from that end. Then the whole thing is ready to be slid onto the propshaft and locked in place with the tab washer and the locknut. The diameter of the propshaft and the number of splines on it determine which hub kit you need to use to fit your particular engine, but as long as the prop uses a flo-torq II style hub than any flo-torq II hub kit will fit it.. you just need to use the one for your propshaft.
In your case, you need to use one for a 15 spline Mercury propshaft :beer:)

thanks des now i understand fully dont no any guys here who use one we are abit slow here with the new tech and i havent even found a prop on ebay that suits the kit
