Hi everybody! What a site! Since I bought my v-20 85 start looking for information about it an then found this, very nery nice, congratulations, very friendly...

I read threads but commenced from last page in order to see development and looking for more information also still in page 186

Well, when I saw this boat I just fall in love:love:, i felt fever and delirious.

Now the O/B Jonhson 200 1985 suffer a very bad damage and looking for spare part or chase for newest one.

My V-20 has a full transom and is equipped with "sea drive"? bracket but I'm worry about safe lifting capacity of the trim because the old jonhson weight 450 lbs and a good 200 hp 4 stroke weight 550 lbs around.

Do you know something about that?

Also, can be fixed any brand of o/b in this bracket or evinrude and jonhson only?

Many thanks in advance for your help...

Good ride and best fishing

Tony

Welcome Tony and congrats on the V20.
You will have to wait for one of the guys who have experience with the sea drive's.
I owned an 1986 that was a sea drive which had been removed and a bracket put on the transom. That is your best way to go if you can. The hole made for the sea drive controls is small and easy to seal up. Then you can put any engine on there. But if it is a old heavy, or new heavy engine it will probably be too much weight at the end of a bracket. A 150 two stroke is the best.

Many Thanks Willy for your prompt replay, yes, I thinking in sea drive discard but I will try to keep due to is an original equipment, but if is the only way, has to do it at the mean time.

Thanks again.

welcome. i think willy is on the money, i've seen a few that have been converted, but always to a johnson/evinrude. a bracket is the way to go, so you can mount any manufactor's motor. where is los mochis in relation to the us border, might be a good idea to search nearby craig's list.

Sea drive

Thanks for your reply Phatdaddy, Los Mochis is at NW of Mexico, 450 Km at north of Mazatlan and 400 at South of Guaymas. 800 Km at South of Nogales Sonora/Arizona.

Los Mochis is a 500,000 population city and the port is Topolobampo in the Sea of Cortez we have a good fishing here like tuna, wahoo, sailfish, stripped marlin, dolphin and more

Welcome, Tony...

Is 'very bad damage' to power-head? and the rest of the motor, lower unit (the drive) and all that OK?...if power-head replacement is what you need, I think there are certain replacements from OUTBOARDS that can be used for that purpose...as Willy said, we've got some pretty sharp guys around here who can advise you on that...
If your sea-drive is shot to the point of total replacement, I would agree w/Willy except point out the Etec small block 200...light weight and as smooth as a 4-stroke w/out the WEIGHT of a 4-stroke...if you're going to buy new, that'd be my advise...

Post up some pics of your boat...we'd like to see!!...:pic:

Hi reelapeelin, many thanks for your suggestion, a etec sounds great, but over here is not common to find it, easily we can find yamaha and mercury and some jonhson.

Still looking for the monoblock, the rest are ok according with my mechanic guy, will see...

Will try to post photos asap.
