Carrying extra fuel - anyone ?

Since the V 20's carried 40 gallons till ? Anyone carry 10 extra gallons in the cuddy ?

Running a hose with bulb pump to reach the tank fill sounds do able.

How stupid ? " Boom " risk or not ?

I always carry two extra 6 gal plastic tanks of straight fuel. My kicker is a 4 stroke and this feeds them, but in a pinch I can always add some 2 stroke oil to them and have an extra 12 gals. for emergency use on the big engine. Just seems the prudent thing to do. Why put all your eggs (or fuel) in one basket? :head:

Buy that boat in Florida, good sir. It has a 60 gallon tank.

I've been investigating that one, thanks

we used to carry an extra 20 or 30 gallons in a 35 gallon plastic drum. the top of the drum was fitted with a quick connect and a primer bulb. we usually ran that fuel out first and then lashed the drum to the bow and ran from the belly tank.

When I got my V. the 60 gallon tank had been replaced with a 26 gallon tank, so I did carry 5 extra gal in a regular plastic can when going offshore, but never needed it.

Now with the 40 gallon tank I put in, I rarely use a half tank running all day with my Johnzuki 140 4 stroke.

Sounds like a run to Andros for square grouper in the early 80's.
