Steering Sytems--My experiance
I have run different boats threwout the years--Cable on most--hydraulic single and multiple stations.
Now this is for the V-20-- I have the 200HO E-Tec on my Wellcraft---I had single cable on the boat when I bought it with a 175 Johnson on it--teleflex--rotary--What I expected--a bit stiff and felt like a cable. With the 200 I put on the dual cable Teleflex--rotary--no feed back system--fairly positive and each year has gotten stiffer despite all efforts to keep loose. Installed a Hydraulic system-- 1. Much cleaner install 2. Much more positive 3. Much easier steering--1 finger--like your vehicle. 4. No feed back 5. cost about the same as the dual cable (installed by facility) whne I installed myself. Recommendation--if you have a motor that should have dual cables--Go Hydraulic--you will be glad later.--After all I wasted about $1400 on the cables--Hyd was less when I installed it. Now a quick info on hyd systems--they are not all the same. Teleflex uses bushings in their pump front and rear. Marol uses bearing front and rear in their pumps = longevity. Both have quality steering units. Cost---it is a wash. Hope this is of some help to you all.:hi::hi: |
