Plugs a little milky
Took the boat out today after replacing the power pack. It has run flawlessly in the yard.
It ran perfect for a few minutes, I went back to pick my buddy up that was parking the truck and it shut off. It acted as if it was not getting fuel. I had not tools with me so the best I could do was make sure the fuel pump was pumping, it was. I got it back to the dock by holding in the choke and applying throttle gently. I just checked the plugs and they are a little milky. A friend borrowed my comp gauge so it will be tomorrow before I can check. Any thoughts on the matter in the meantime? |
White, clear or brown milk might be fuel contaminant or head gasket leak.

are you running the fuel through a water seperator? if so pump some in a clear container and see if it looks ok.

Got up this morning and I still don't have my comp gauge so I went ahead and took apart the carbs, guess what? Water in the bowls.
I am beginning the draining process now. |

There was about 3/4 gallon of water in the tank. The Fuel sending unit gasket was bad and letting water in. The boat has been sitting for a few months and it has rained ALOT here. I believe water leaks through the access right above the tank so I will be replacing it with a new access deck plate.
I cleaned the carbs, I disconnected the fuel hose from the engine to use the fuel bulb to pump fuel through until there was no water, Replaced the separator with a new one. The boat runs great again. I have checked the water separator several times and there has been no more water in it. I still do not have my comp gauge and I really want to check it to make sure there was no damage done to my cylinders. I let the boat idle in the yard for almost an hour and there wasn't even the slightest hiccup. Curt |
