That really depends on the species of fish that you're going to be trolling for. 1 mph is fine for some fish, and others like a much faster speed. My point is need to give us more info. And do you intend to use gas or electric for your trolling? :head:

Are you asking about an electric trolling motor or a gas powered kicker for the transom...

If electric, mine had a 70 lb thrust Minn Kota and that was ample...24 volt, so you'd need two batteries...if you fish heavy currents, you might want to go up w/higher thrust and 36 volts (3 batteries)

Thanks

Im thinking gas powered is the way to go now,, Im not really keen on placing 2 more batteries. I dont get into heavy current much ,, mostly calm waters.

Well, if gas is the way you want to go, then I'd opt for a 9.9 for you. I have a Honda 4 stroke 9.9 and it moves me throught the water just fine, I can idle to less than 1 mph yet go considerable faster if I need to. Understand I only fish salt, so not sure what your needs or speeds are, but I know several other ppl here also have 9.9's on their boats.

sounds good

Thanks for the info.. Will go with that. Always great to have input before making a mistake. Thank you again

Suggest having separate fuel supply for kicker...that way if your main goes down, you have a "get home"...
