removing striping?

getting ready to remove the striping on the hull at the waterline.anyone have any suggestions on what works the best?
i've used a decal remover before but it's only available in a small bottle and it's kind of expensive.
thanks!

I used a razor blade holder with a brand new razor blade. Works well, but be careful not to let it dig because it will chip or scratch the gelcoat if you're not careful.

Remove stripe

A heat gun works best but it will take a long time. You heat up the stripe and you can scrape it off with your fingernail. Then take a adheasve remover and go over it

I used a blow dryer and a razor blade. Be patient and it comes right off.

we use a stripe eraser made by 3M or other companies its a small rubber type tool with a 1/4 stem attached to it. air tool or drill works fine just let it do its job by running it over the stripe. the good part is that its removes all the glue from the stripe too! leaving a very clean surface. but it also wears out. you should get your whole boat out of one.
but then again we also use a heat gun. [old school ]

Can't beat the heated razor scraper.Got to be extra carefull though besides being really sharp it gets extreamly hot.Be carefull where you set it down at.

Stripe or No Stripe?

I have a v20 open bow and my boat has the standard water line stripes. Is there an advantage or disadvantage to taking off the stripes?

I was considering removing the stripes if it really looks cleaner without them. Just want some feedback from others on this...

Strictly a matter of preference and opinion. I took mine off and replaced them with new because the originals were beat up. Several years later I did away with them altogether.
