Now he's taken up Gator Hunting...apparently took to it right off w/this 11 footer...if anybody ever tells you there ain't any gators in south Georgia, you'll know better...well there IS one less now...

That's completely awesome!!!! What did he catch/kill it with?

As you know, I used to live just outside St Mary's, Georgia, which is right on the southern tip of Georgia near the Fla. State line. We had 4 acres (2 cleared, 2 natural with about 70% hardwoods)... anyways, just behind our property was a small (about 3 acre) pond.. There were at least 2 gators in there. (I never felt the need to actually go out and count the exact number).. So I can fully attest to the fact that yes, Georgia has gators. Grats to your FIL on his catch. How much did that fella weigh?

Excellent job!
No small feat there!
The current State Record is 13'9" at 692lbs, just gives you some reference.
This year there were 850 available tags with 6522 applicants, 676 applied from out of State.
Average yearly harvest has been about %35 success rate per hunter.
You have to catch them with a snare/hook or harpoon them in some fashion before dispatching them with a pistol or bangstick.

Destroyer, for the last couple of years they have been taking pictures of Bears in the marsh near St. Marys.

Damn!!!!!! Yet another reason why I don't live there anymore... The gators, Hurricanes, Tornados, and Fire Ants were enough... now bears??? It's just not worth it.... (although I have to admit, Southern folk are without a doubt the nicest people on the face of the earth). (Took me a while to get used to people waving at me for no reason, but truly I loved it)

(And we have black bears in the woods behind my house here in NJ... not agressive, just unsettling......)

I can't remember exactly where these pictures were taken. Seemed like it was in the southend of Cumberland Sound and he was heading toward the west.
