She's home, my new to me V!

A few weeks ago I had posted a thread looking for a v20 in the buying section. I honestly didn't have a lot of hope but wanted to try my luck. I got a few posts on my thread and a few pm's, one pm in particular was titled v21. I responded back to the gentleman that I was interested and received some pictures. He had asked me not to post anything on the board about it and I honored his decision.

Over the next few weeks we corresponded almost daily, I was probably driving him nuts but this was a long distance deal and he was more then kind in devoting his time. We set the pick up date for yesterday to meet at Kerr Lake in North Carolina. Friday evening my girlfriend and I loaded up the truck, packed in the dogs and started our drive. We booked a place in Ruther Glenn, VA for the night thinking we'd be there around 9ish, traffic wasn't cooperating so ultimately we pulled in around Midnight. Due to the volume of caffeine that I had in me, the dogs being restless in the room and the thought if taking a ride on the boat kept me up for most of the night. My lab decided that he needed to go outside at 430 just as I was finally falling asleep... Good times!

We left the hotel about 9 and pulled into Kerr Lake at 11:30. As we were pulling down the last road there she sat. She looked great! Headed down through a few trails to the ramp and finally met the seller. He seemed like a great guy over email and reading his posts on here but he was even better in person. I don't know that I have had the pleasure of meeting someone like him before. As a side note my girlfriend liked him so much that she took his address off the boat title to add him to our holiday card list.

I digress, we launched her and fired up the 4 stroke, purred like a kitten. We took a ride around the lake, got a feel for the boat, had some talk about fishing (man the depth finder marked a TON of fish) and headed back to the ramp. After a quick tire change on the trailer she was hooked up to my truck and ready to make the 9 hour ride home.

We named the boat at the ramp in honor of the seller. After she gets buffed out she will proudly display 'Reelapeelin' on her sides. Ozzie, I can't thank you enough for everything you did. You are a true gentleman and are welcome to come up and fish with me anytime.

That's my friend all right, described him to a tee. You forgot "Old Geezer" but that's OK.
Good luck with her, you have a great boat.
And Oz, bring your old arse down to Chuck Town and me and the CEO will get you out for some fishing.

Spare, of all the guys on the board, I knew you would be the most surprised!!...can never thank you enough for helping me find and secure that great 21!!

Meeting Craig and his Lady yesterday was quite nice...both of them, wonderful people...anybody who jumps in the car for a long trip like and tosses in the dogs...well, they are my kind of people!!...letting the boat go was bitter-sweet to say the least, but made all the difference finding out for sure it would be in the hands of good folks who would take care of her and appreciate her...

Craig was RIGHT!!...the sonar was LIT UP the whole time we were on the lake...fish out the wazoo and there we are w/out a fishing rod between us...a threatened quick trip to K-Mart for fishing poles, got them in the car and on the road back to Jersey pretty quick!!...and that old '74 trailer made one last LONG HAUL w/out incident...from now on, Craig has only a couple of blocks to the ramp, so it's in semi-retirement for now...

Great to meet you two(actually FOUR)!!...and I'll look forward to the Christmas Card this year...You both always have a friend in SC...

And Spare, you are right again, my friend...there will be another "V" in my future soon as I get the Red Barns #2 & 3 (#3 could have a more "coastal" location) opened up and slingin' BBQ!!...we are in month 3 and things are actually looking very good right now...lemme concentrate on "bidniss" for a while...and thanks again to my new friends in New Jersey!!...

Congrats on selling the V OZ, and Congrats to Parrot.

Parrot: Remember who had the boat so if it tries to make a hard turn when you pass a BBQ place take it easy on the ol girl.
She probably has the same characteristics as OZZY so she may be weak and feeble you might need to give her some exercise. :hi:

:oh::oh::oh: I completely understand your decision Reel... but I'm still in shock. :oh::oh::oh:

Parrot... whether you know it or not you've gotten the deal of your lifetime...congratulations on the new addition to your family.

(Since you're in New Jersey the rules state that you now owe all the other New Jersey members a fishing trip in the boat. Willy will be bringing the booze.... The rest of us will be guarding him.) :bat:
