Welcome to the site....you probably get the award for a member being furthest away from the US. Most agree that a 150 HP outboard is a good fit for a V-20. It should let you do everything you want. Post some pictures of that 86 (same year as mine) when you get a chance.

Yes welcome to the site. I am curious where you will be using your boat, what the conditions are like, what type of fish you catch and all that...with pictures!

Welcome Shubbar. So cool to see another V20 aficionado half way across the world. Very interested, like RKC, about how you will use the boats in the waters surrounding the UAE. Had a gentleman from the UAE who lived next door to my dorm room at Indiana University back in the 80's. Real nice guy. Loved learning about the UAE from him.

I agree that a 150 seems to be the best overall power of choice among those with outboard engines on their V's. Many have 175's or 200's also, but I would think 200 would be the max.

In the time I have been on the site I recall folks submitting from Ireland, the UK and Puerto Rico. Anyone have an idea on all the different countries/US Territories represented by members of the site?

Welcome Shubbar,

I spend quite a bit of time in the UAE and my wife and I love the area.....Fishing is still great in Ras al Khaimah but Dubai has been hit hard since the currents were blocked by the palms.....you guys certainly have some GREAT boating weather

I agree with Wilson and Nipper. 150hp is very practical and won't break the bank on fuel. Probably put you in the mid 40's. Wait a minute, what does a gallon or liter of fuel cost over there? LOL

What Outboard DEALERS are close to you?...who will service after you've bought?...are you talking about new or used?...answers to those questions would play into my choice to repower your V-20...150 is good enough HP for your boat...175 will add some kick and 200 will REALLY put some pep to it...may be good for pulling up those larger skiers!!...

Perhaps our opinions may be a little biased, but the V20 are great boats, nicely designed and built well. If you are asking specifically about your boat, make sure your transom is solid as you will be putting a lot of weight on it. Perhaps that was what you were referring to fixing in your original post.
