towing

I'm a new guy, no boat yet but I am looking and the V20 looks like a decent boat for my pruposes. I've looked through this sight and haven't seen any comments on tow vehicles. Is anybody using anything lilke a 2001 G Cherokee with a 4.0L six?

Not a Cherokee but I use a 6 cylinder Honda Pilot. Similar in size and weight I would guess.....If you are rated for 4500 tow capacity on your truck you'll be fine. 3500 lb capacity on your vehicle and you are getting close to the max capacity I would think.

Pulled both my V20's with a 4.0 lliter Jeep Cherokee. You won't have any problems.

I have a 1998 Jeep Cherokee... 157,000 miles on it. I use it all the time to tow my boat. My latest long distance tow was earlier this year when I towed my boat from Florida to New Jersey.. (about 1600 miles if I recall correctly) Came up Interstate 95 at 70+ miles an hour speed average, without so much as a hic-up. If your Jeep is in good shape she'll do fine.

WARNING!!!!!!! DO NOT tow a boat with your Jeep if the trailer doesn't have brakes. The Cherokee, while it has a great, torquey engine, suffers from being light weight. Your boat and trailer will have so much mass and inertia at speed that it can (and will ) push your vehicle much farther in a stopping situation then during a normal stop. You haven't lived until your car is pushed through a stop sign at the bottom of a hill. (Yes, speaking from experience). As long as your trailer has a working brake system, then yes, the Cherokee will tow your boat easily and safely.

(Use 4 wheel drive when coming up out of the launch ramp..it's easier) See you on the water.

Thanks for the input, it will be a lot easier to buy a boat if I don't havel to buy another vehicle first. I do plan on having trailer brakes, but I'm on the west coast of Florida. The biggest hill I have here is probaly the boat ramp.

Breaks are for people that rather work then fish! They broke all time any way!

I use to tow with a 94 S10 Blazer no issues at all! And yes tow up ramp 4x4 in low slow and steady
