ctt, didn't capt pete get one a few months ago? might pm him.....
i've owned dodge trucks since 72, but no hemis. i am not a motor guy, but i thought the only difference was the air intake, exhaust, and heads.

lumberslinger178 10-07-2010 06:51 PM

:you:hemi..... thats a personal question:bat:

sorry chuck I have a ford and a chevy like them both for different reasons but if I had a choice I'd take a f250 lariat:love: extended cab

charlie_the_tuna 10-07-2010 10:18 PM

hey willy if i had your money i'd burn mine and go buy a brand new truck but the dodge is priced way lower than the bowtie and the blue oval.
phat, the "hemi" means the heads have hemispherical combustion chambers and an ohc.
not as many of the base models as one would expect. i cant believe a company would build a pickup truck with leather seats and power everything but i guess the pickup is the new minivan.

A HEMI is any engine with a semi hemispherically shaped combustion chamber. In other words if you were to take a ball and cut it in half, the combustion chamber in the head is shaped like that. If you want to get technical about it, most all of your overhead camshaft 4 bangers in front wheel drive cars are HEMIS:nut:. The current 5.7L and 6.1L HEMIS are still cam in block pushrod engines, not OHC(over head camshafts). DODGE makes a good truck and powertrain, the reason they are so cheap is there interiors. The newer DODGE's are known for squeeks and rattles after they get some age on em, and this brings down the resale value.

X2 ... When I was shopping for a new truck for work, I looked at just about everything on the market. Since the boss was paying for it, money wasn't a real issue... I loved the Dodges, until I compared their interior to a GMC's.. the contrast was like day and night... cheap, flimsy for the Dodge, plush for the GMC.. and the price was close on both of them. I went with the GMC and never looked back. (I still like the Dodge trucks, their Cummins Diesel is hard to beat..but they really need to work on the interiors if they want to be a ranking company again). Oh, and BTW, their small block Hemi is now standard on the Dodge Dakota..Tons of power for that truck..makes towing a breeze.... but you must get 4x4, otherwise you'll just spin your rear tires all over the place.

I love my GMC!! But I like the interior in Ford the best! I have always said that if I could take a Ford cab and install it in a GM power train you have a great truck!

Dodge make great barn fires!
