Hey Destroyer , Looking at getting a new set of gauges. I'm see things like 12 pole 8 pole and pules 12 pole. The last time I installed a new set on a different boat I just brought a set I liked and that was it..Now I'm just not sure,,Thanks Ken

In regards to the pole settings its for your RPM gauge and can be set using a screwdriver. The adjustment is need to match YEAR&MAKE instructions will be with it. It has something to do with the stator windings on your stator ?? Ferm HELP :)
I replaced my Gauges with all Teleflex brand all still working flawlessly, most economically priced in my opinion ...Here is a picture of my console, which in my opinion an eye sore, I have re-mod when it cools down... |
Thanks Nymack66. Teleflex is the set I'm looking at..I'm rebuilding the whole boat so it's better to asked then do it a second time. Thanks again

Most tachs come in 2 varietys for outboards, a universal for 2-12 poles and the infamous 20 pole for the early FORCE. Your engine in particuliar is a 12 pole 6 pulse for the tach. This refers to how many different segments there are to the stator, and MOST of your outboards are 12 poles to the stator. And every 2 poles will create one pulse, soa half of your poles is your pulse setting for the tach. I would avoid FARIA if it was me as I have had a few and they were all wrong by a good bit.
