Kinda looks like the mysterious "V14"....

Indeed it does. Nice little fishing boat. I like how the hull matches the trailer. S'pose owner just spray painted it all at te same time?

Looks like it. I emailed him some questions. This is local to me so if I could pick it up for next to nothing I probably would. Never know, if the engine is a mid-seventies model rude and has compression I can work with that!
My buddy FlyFishin is about to float an old project boat I bought a few years ago. It is a 1968 Salem Skiff, 13ft x 5ft wide. He fixed up the trailer - painted, new bunks, replaced the floor in the boat, has the bottom side painted, now working on prepping the topside for paint and looking for a motor. I will be posting pics. Here is the before: http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0709071933.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...709071933a.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...0709071934.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...709071933b.jpg http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d7...709071934a.jpg |
Looks like a whaler!

Yep FWB, it is similar to a Whaler. One of the many knock-offs produced over the years. The Salem Skif manf'd by AmFab in the sixties is a rare breed. I've seen only one in person and found only a couple online in my research. They only made them for a couple years. What I like about it is it is nice and wide = stability and roominess not found in other 13ft boats. Also, I love the before shots showing the gum sapling (tree!) growing through a hole in the floor. The foam was soaked thru and thru apparently providing quite a nice medium to support root growth. LOL!
I paid $150 and had to purchase 2 new tires = total $200. Flyfishin had an old Holland grill with a rusted out bottom shell which he traded me for the boat/trailer. I sold the old Johnson 33 Super Seahorse you see laying in the hull for $125, bringing my total investment down to $75 for the package. What is going to be really sweet is when we start slaying the stripers, flounder, sheepshead, redfish etc. in it. We can't wait!! |
